Welcome to itsvegan. These terms explain the rules for using itsvegan.org (“itsvegan”, “we”, “us”). By using the site or creating an account you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy and Community guidelines, which are part of these terms.
1. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
- Give accurate information and keep your login details safe. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- One person, one account. Accounts may not be sold or transferred.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings.
2. Using itsvegan
itsvegan is free to use for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to: break the law or our guidelines; post fake reviews or misleading listings; scrape or bulk-download the site beyond what our sitemap and normal browsing allow; interfere with the site’s security or performance; impersonate anyone; or use the site to send spam.
3. Content you post
You keep ownership of the content you create — reviews, photos, recipes, posts, comments and messages. To run the service, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example resize photos), publish and display that content on itsvegan and in materials promoting itsvegan (such as sharing a recipe on our social media with credit to you). This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where others have reused content under an open licence (see below) or it remains in backups for a limited time.
You confirm that you have the rights to everything you post and that it doesn’t infringe anyone else’s rights.
Veganpedia licence
Text you contribute to Veganpedia is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International licence (CC BY-SA 4.0). You agree that attribution via a link to the article and its edit history is sufficient. Because others may build on your edits, Veganpedia contributions remain after you delete your account, without your name.
Directory data
Listing information (names, addresses, categories, hours) is factual data about public places. When you add or edit a listing, you allow us to publish and keep it, also after your account is deleted. Parts of our directory come from OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL).
4. Reviews
- Reviews must reflect your genuine, first-hand experience. Fake reviews, reviews with a conflict of interest and incentivised reviews are forbidden (see the guidelines).
- Businesses may reply publicly but may not pressure, threaten or pay reviewers to change or remove reviews.
- We may hide or remove reviews that break these terms, and we don’t remove genuine reviews at a business’s request.
- Reviews are opinions of members, not of itsvegan.
5. Listings, claims and bookings
Anyone may add a public place to the directory. A business may claim its listing after verification; we may approve or reject claims at our discretion and remove owner access if it’s misused. Booking requests sent through itsvegan are agreements between the member and the professional — itsvegan is not a party to them, does not process payments and is not responsible for the services provided. Professionals are responsible for holding any licences their work requires.
6. Health information
Content on itsvegan, including Veganpedia, is for general information only and is not medical advice. Talk to a qualified health professional about your individual needs, especially during pregnancy, for children, or if you have a medical condition.
7. Moderation and termination
We may remove content, limit features or suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms or harm the community. Where reasonable we’ll tell you why. If you think we made a mistake, contact us.
8. Disclaimers and liability
We work hard to keep information accurate, but much of it comes from the community and third-party sources. Opening hours change, menus change and businesses close — please check with the business before travelling. itsvegan is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for content posted by members or third parties. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Intellectual property
The itsvegan name, logo and site design belong to us. Except for content under open licences, you may not copy the site’s design or branding without permission.
10. Changes
We may update these terms as itsvegan grows. If changes are significant, we’ll let members know by email or a notice on the site before they take effect. Continuing to use itsvegan after that means you accept the new terms.
